I was honored to help BizStarts plan their 10th Anniversary event this year at MillerCoors Historic Stables. Over 275 people attended the event and they honored 10 local businesses that have been placed in the Hall of Fame. They also featured a marketplace where 17 local entrepreneurs came to display their products to speak about their services. Destination Management Connection was also part of the marketplace. Food from six entrepreneur companies were also featured and helped make the evening a huge success. A little jazz music for background entertainment, reconstruction of the room to allow for easy access to the entrepreneur tables and a theater style seating for the formal program all helped with the great traffic flow.. Of course the free product from MillerCoors and the Historic Stables venue did not disappoint. Here are a few pictures from last nights big event. Destination Management Connection is able to help you plan your next corporate event, holiday party or special reception.
What a great article recently published in Trivago Magazine this month. Milwaukee residents already know this but it's nice to see these hotels and our city be recognized and promoted in a national magazine. You can read the entire article here.
The hospitality community is constantly trying to stay on top of new trends driving business. A recent article in the Entrepreneur mentioned three major trends that are driving the hospitality industry to take notice and act on, if they want to continue driving business. They are:
1. Millennial Profile - using technology to engage the millennial traveler is big, something they can blog about on their social media platforms. 2. Emergence of Parallel Industry - Guests want experiences with their travels, people are looking for something more during their stay. 3. Being aware - cultural learning and consciously living greener. You can read the entire article here. Enjoyed touring The Marcus Center for the Performing Arts today. They have great event space for smaller meetings (25) up to large events (2,300) including outdoor space that can be tented or attendees can enjoy a performance in the outdoor Peck Pavilion. Great for corporate groups and include a performance after the meeting.
#marcuscenter #corporateevents #eventspace An article in today's MPI Blog featured museums around the US that make great venues for meetings and events. I'm proud to say that Milwaukee's own Harley-Davidson museum was featured in the article along with several other museums. Milwaukee County is home to 28 museums that are very unique and would make a great venue for your next meeting or event. You can read the article here.
A recent survey from Development Counsellors International (DCI). asked that very question. The top responses were: Safety and security, how long destinations take to respond to RFPs and potential budget cuts to their events.
Association of Destination Management Executives International (ADMEI) the global association of DMC's has an Emergency Preparedness certificate program that provides the only comprehensive event emergency preparedness and risk management training course customized for meeting, event, and destination management professionals. The Emergency Preparedness Certificate Program (EPCP) is developed by ADMEI in collaboration with global leaders in security, intelligence, training, and investigative services. At ADMEI's annual conference February 7-9, 2019 in Houston, one of the sessions at the conference will feature a case study on emergency preparedness. Several cities will be represented and discuss how they handled disasters like hurricanes and flooding. Consider attending the certificate program or the ADMEI annual conference in Houston for continuing education. A recent article in PCMA discusses how music plays an important factor for a meeting or an event. According to Andy Sharpe, CEO of SongDivision, "Music creates emotional connections and it creates memories". As an event organizer, you need to make sure you have the licensing for your music and you are paying the appropriate parties. The article provides three key reasons for licensing music at your next event and how to pay for the music. A link to the article can be found here.
