I am humbled and honored to have been selected in the inaugural "15 Over 50" by Connect Association. This is the announcement with a link to all the honorees..
Kathryn Gleesing, MBA, CMP, president and CEO of DM-Connection & Events, was recognized as a member of Connect Association’s inaugural “15 Over 50.” The honor highlights veteran event professionals who have contributed in multiple ways to the industry. Connect Association is a national, B2B magazine that provides resources and ideas to professionals and planners in the meetings and events industry. Peers in the events world nominated Gleesing. Nominations were received from across the country, then reviewed and evaluated by the Connect staff based on references, industry involvement and other resources. #showcaseconnectmeetings #eventplanners Honorees Milwaukee is home to three Distilleries and I had the opportunity to visit one of them recently to book space for a client event. Twisted Path Distillery has an exceptional location on S. 1st street in the Bay View area which is just minutes from downtown Milwaukee. They just opened their new tasting room which seats 40, standing room for 60 people. It's bright and airy, has two big doors that are opened when the weather is nice. It also includes a built in stage area for entertainment (former loading dock space) and you can also include a tour for your group. In addition to the bigger tasting room, they have a smaller space that is a Speak Easy and seats 14 people. All the Spirits they make are from scratch and are certified organic. They have options for food for your event which can be set up in advance. Your group can learn how to make a Milwaukee Old Fashioned and other custom, fun drinks. #twistedpathdistillery #milwaukeeeventspace #corporateplanners #dm-connection&events I recently toured Hotel Retlaw located in downtown Fond Du Lac. The former owner, Walter Schroeder built the hotel in 1923. The hotel name(Retlaw) comes from Walters first name spelled backwards. If his name sounds familiar, he built the Schroeder Hotel in Milwaukee which is now the Hilton Milwaukee City Center, The Astor Hotel and the former Hotel Wisconsin along with other hotels in Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota.
The hotel has recently undergone an extensive renovation to the tune of $27 million dollars and opened this year for business. It's been restored to it's full grandeur with a beautiful chandelier that sits prominently in the lobby, art deco furniture that was designed specifically for the hotel and a beautiful tiled floor that provides that historic, new feel as you enter the lobby. The hotel has 121 guest rooms and suites and features almost 10,000 sq. ft. of meeting space and offers a very unique hands-on activity program for corporate or association groups.
