Technology is progressing at a rapid pace and recently Expo Logic introduced a new facial recognition software at several events in 2017 and more in 2018. According to a recent statement from Expo Logic "an attendee walks into a conference and heads for a kiosk to check-in. As they approach the kiosk, it recognizes their face, greets them by name, and automatically prints their badge". It's helping speed up lines at registration check-in and attendees seem to like the fact they are recognized and messages are customized for each attendee.
A recent article in Today Online features a hotel in Singapore that is testing a 'selfie' picture of an individual as a way to unlock their hotel room. According to Ms Ong Huey Hong, STB’s director of hotels and sector manpower, "facial recognition technology, developed by artificial intelligence solutions firm GTRIIP, is expected to shorten the time taken for guests to check-in and allow hotel employees to “focus on higher value-added tasks" .
